The company will transform wildfire-damaged deadwood, diseased boreal trees and forest industry residuals into high-value, steam-treated black pellets to be used as an alternative for coal.
Through the application of steam treatment technology, Power Wood Energy plans to develop and produce durable black pellets with improved density, moisture resistance, energy content and grindability - so utility power generating infrastructure can use them without significant modification.
Power Wood Energy will use leading-edge steam treatment technology made by industrial engineers Valmet to change waste stream biomass at cellular level into an enhanced solid biofuel which has the potential to reduce lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions by more than 90% compared with coal.
In doing so, it aims to keep existing heat and power generating facilities in operation while reducing their carbon footprint across the sourcing, production, transportation and combustion of its fuel.

Championing green innovation
Supporting economic prosperity
Minimising environmental impact
Providing ecological stewardship
Power Wood believes economic prosperity occurs, locally and globally, more freely alongside good ecological stewardship.
As such it champions the green innovation of steam-treated black pellets as a viable alternative for coal.
It will operate near to feedstock sources, harvested to produce an energy tranistion biofuel, reduce methane emissions and support Canada's boreal carbon sink.
The plant technology it will use is energy-efficient and the steam-treated black pellets it will produce are more economic and evironmentally friendly to to transport than other biofuel pellets.
Across all of its activities, Power Wood seeks to aims bridge a gap between industrial energy needs and the planet's climate and net zero goals.
The end of fossil fuel coal use
The decarbonization of heavy industry
The advancement of renewable energy
The improvement of the nautral world
Power Wood envisages a future in which burning fossil fuel coal at industrial scale has become obsolete.
It plans for a world where heavy engineering, process production and big technology are powered by diverse, concerted clean, renewable energy sources.
It works to support a planet with cleaner solid biofuels, healthier forests and better protected ecosystems, and in doing so fosters a more prosperous place for people on the planet.
Power Wood maps a pathway to this vision through the adoption of a circular economic model to produce a sustainable clean alternative to coal which can help industries to decarbonize and nations to achieve their climate goals.
Produce sustainable biofuel pellets
Create decarbonization pathways
Reduce greenhouse gas emissions
Protect integral forest carbon sinks
Power Wood ’s mission is to produce steam-treated black pellets with improved energy content as a viable alternative to coal.
By providing cost-effective pathways to decarbonization for power stations and industrial factories, the company intends to support nations in meeting their climate targets.
Power Wood plans to produce more than a million tons of steam-treated black pellets annually, from wildfire-damaged deadwood, diseased trees and forestry industry residuals and by using innovative, clean technology.
Through its selective use of feedstock to produce its solid biofuel, Power Wood also seeks to ensure old grow trees in Canada's boreal forest are protected to draw down atmospheric carbon gases.
The company plans to launch a program called the New Ground Foundation to reforest and manage areas it clears of deadwood and diseased trees, within an area laid out by its Crown forestry rights.
The New Ground Foundation will be operated to repopulate areas of previously fire-ravaged woodland with a mix of native coniferous and deciduous trees such as black and white spruce, balsam fir, jack pine and larch, white birch, trembling aspen and balsam poplar.
As a scholarship provider, Power Wood Energy will support the education and early working careers of young people seeking positions in industries related to its operations including forestry, conservation, renewable energy, engineering logistics and firefighting.
